After great anticipation on behalf of make-up artists and enthusiasts alike, M·A·C Cosmetics opened its doors in not one but two stores in Malta, which are both centrally located in Sliema (one in Debenhams and now a recently opened fully-equipped one in Tigné Street). A PR event was organized for us to mingle and swatch some of the products in store, particularly the lush lipsticks. Here are a few snapshots of what went on during the eve, courtesy of the management and team behind M·A·C, which forms part of United Department Stores Limited. Photos and press information were kindly provided by Jo Caruana.

If you would like to read on, here is some more background information on the brand and how it started. As a professional brand for many make-up artists around the world, M·A·C has fast become an iconic name in this industry. Since its creation in 1984, it has made its mark in 106 countries all over the globe. Ten years after its inception, M·A·C founded the M·A·C Aids Fund in 1994 to support people affected by HIV/AIDS. To date, it has raised over $385 million exclusively through the sale of M∙A∙C VIVA GLAM lipstick and lipglass, donating 100 percent of the sale price to fight HIV/AIDS.
M·A·C provides not only high-quality products and new categories, but also the most current trends and professional makeup services. If you are a resident in Malta, you may avail yourself of the latter in the new store for any special occasion that requires that extra special look. When speaking of the new additions to the M·A·C family, Edoardo Bernardi, General Manager for The Estée Lauder Companies Italy, said: “I am especially proud that the MAC brand is now also debuting in Malta with the opening of these 2 points of sale. MAC, thanks to its direct retail model, is increasingly growing in all European countries”. Along similar lines, Simon Gatt Baldacchino, Managing Director of United Department Stores Limited, commented: “As the retail market in Malta continues to grow and evolve, our group is well-placed to follow up on new opportunities in the sector.
Among the guests was global senior artist Michele Magnani (above) who worked with the Greats in fashion, including magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Grazia to name but a few. He has also featured on numerous television channels in Italy (Rai1 and Rai2) and internationally (Sky, World Fashion Channel), not to mention all the celebrities he has worked with. The list is indeed endless, but here is a small tip of the make-up iceberg he has carved out for himself: Eva Herzigova, Stella McCartney, Olivia Palermo, the Missoni family, the Cavalli family, the Stefanel family, the Benetton family, the Bulgari family, and the Trussardi family. He has also been the key artist for important shows during Milan Fashion Week (e.g. Moschino, John Richmond, Next Generation) and other fashion weeks.
