‘Curiouser and curiouser!’ cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English); ‘now I’m opening out like the largest telescope that ever was! Good-bye, feet!’ (for when she looked down at her feet, they seemed to be almost out of sight, they were getting so far off). ‘Oh, my poor little feet, I wonder who will put on your shoes and stockings for you now, dears? I’m sure I shan’t be able! … Let me see: I’ll give them a new pair of boots every Christmas.’ And she went on planning to herself how she would manage it. ‘They must go by the carrier,’ she thought;’ and how funny it’ll seem, sending presents to one’s own feet! And how odd the directions will look!’
There is of course no direct link to Alice in Wonderland, except that the Fossil campaign this Christmas calls out to the curious in us all with the quasi-eponymous #callingallcurious. Apart from fronting a number of creatives including the ingenious original Leandra Medine (aka Man Repeller) abroad, the Fossil brand celebrates playfulness and colour. To celebrate this and much more, the Sunlab store in Valletta hosted an event and collaborated with homegrown favourites The Clouded Revolution and Pavli (of pavlistyle). Sunlab has really outdone itself… reason being that after the Skagen event at the beginning of the week (read about it here), it has offered us blogger gals the best way to start the weekend while reveling in the watches, jewellery, and wallets/purses on display in full festive mode. Add to that a photo booth (imagine the laughs we had as 5 of us fit in!) and a really curious surprise by way of a pop-up bar offering enticing molecular drinks.
Lest I forget the brand… Fossil has been a favourite of mine for a number of years (nothing can quite replace the joys of owning your first Fossil watch, though I sure look forward to a new addition!). It is fun, original, sleek and stylish, innovative, and why not, an item of luxury? Did you guess what I did? If you look at the words, they spell Fossil and I chose these because that is what I believe the brand to be. The best part is that you do not have to break the bank to own one of these darlings and if you look closely there is something to cater for different tastes. Well, suffice to say I have found the watch that best represents this blog – can you guess which it is? (Hint: there is a plane one of the photos). Have a very Fossil Christmas and in the name of the campaign’s words: Gift Curiously!!
p.s. To return to the above snippet from Alice in Wonderland (which incidentally celebrates 150 years this year), I guess it is not an entirely bad idea to gift oneself some presents, because we all deserve it for our hard work, right? Speaking of which, here is what my friends and I ended up doing at the event!
