For the very first show held at Fort St Angelo, an array of brands whose stores are located at The Point Shopping Mall presented highlights of latest wares and garments. 32 brands participated, most of them well-known and very popular with locals and foreigners alike. While some are targeted at a younger age group, others cater to the needs of adult women and men. From high street to high end, the range of brands is adequately covered at The Point (in Sliema) and it must not have been a simple affair to choose which pieces to showcase. The styling team behind Malta Fashion Week and Awards, however, spearheaded by Marisa Grima, pulled off an incredible feat in a seamless show!
Here is a list of the brands (in order of appearance): Armani Jeans; Hilfiger Denim; Calvin Klein Jeans; Massimo Dutti; Tommy shoes and accessories; Guess; Lacoste; Gant; ALDO; Sunlab; Liu Jo; Mango; Boux Avenue; Mvintage; Urban Jungle; Springfield; Nike; Terranova; Pull & Bear; Garbo; Calliope; Adidas; Skechers; Punt Roma; Oysho; Orsay; Stradivarius; Bata; Debenhams; New Look; Bershka; Esprit; and River Island.
Now as a blog, Style in Transit has chosen some favourites and interesting looks that double as a recommendation on what to get for the upcoming season…
Starting with ALDO, as it is one of the sponsors, what I liked here is the size of the bag as well as that pop of colour. The chunky heel in the sandals definitely looks comfortable and is the heel type of the season.
Armani offers stylish pieces that are also of optimum quality. The leather jacket is of course a must-have, but the piece that stole the show here are those pants!
If you intend to travel far this summer, then get hold of these patterned pants; they would surely look great in an Asian country! The ruffle top also looks fresh and of-the-moment.
An interesting co-ord by Guess is daring and elegant at the same time!
The sport lux look is polished and done well, but you cannot expect anything less from Hilfiger Denim.
Mango has really stepped up the designs and cuts in the last few years, which shows through this summer-perfect dress!
Although New Look often caters to a younger crowd, it does have a number of pieces that can be worn at different ages, such as this off-the-shoulder top and vertical-striped pants, both of which are in vogue but classic nonetheless.
Another outfit from New Look, the combination of the bomber jacket with the slip dress is au courant and playful!
Feminine and fresh, this off-the-shoulder dress is ideal for an evening stroll by the Vittoriosa port and drinks!
Oysho presented 2 beach looks, but my favourite was this one-piece as it reminded me of California!
White once again makes an appearance with this look from Pull and Bear; the fringe detailing and the ripped pants go quite well together.
Khaki/green is a favourite colour at the moment and this playsuit by Punt Roma is a great option for a day round the city.
We can see a slight pattern here with the leather jacket, fringe details, and the green shade. These elements go very well together and are still adequate for those breezy nights.
A second look from River Island – what I liked here was the striking tan against the dainty white dress, balancing the girlish with a more ‘western’ feel. Those sandals though are amazing!
Exchange the black sleeveless vest with a white one for summer, and get your hands on a denim top that blends in with the rest of the look.
